What is Adopt-A-Block?

Inspired by the Los Angeles Dream Center, Adopt-A-Block is a ministry where volunteers go out into the community to "find a need and fill it".  Our goal is to have several Adopt-A-Block locations throughout the Antelope Valley.  Each Adopt-A-Block has a need that is being filled at that specific location, such as fun activities for the kids, a mobile food truck providing much needed groceries, handing out free lunch, distributing clothing, trash clean up, etc. Our goal is to make connections with people, so we can share the love of Jesus, and find a way to serve them.

Adopt-A-Block is held every first and last Saturday of the month. The first Saturday of the month is our Adopt-A-Block event day held at the Neighborhood Impact Community Houses. The last Saturday of the month is our Mobile Food Truck Day where we load up the truck with groceries and distribute them to various locations in the AV.

Two of our sites are located at Neighborhood Impact Houses. The Community Houses are part of the Neighborhood Impact program in Lancaster. Neighborhood Impact is a multifaceted ministry provided by a coalition of churches in the Antelope Valley. The purpose of Neighborhood Impact is to meet the spiritual, physical, and emotional needs of those who live in "high-risk" neighborhoods.

We have been blessed with the opportunity to partner with Living Stone Cathedral of Worship at the Linda Verde site.

Locations are:

The Joshua Community House (302 East Ave. J-12, Lancaster, CA) and The Linda Verde Community House (422 Landsford St., Lancaster, CA)
